Like all modern romance stories, Michael & I found love in a hopeless place-- a smoky hole-in-the-wall dive bar in Katy, TX. On a very cold and rainy day, I went to meet my friend, Sabrina, for some girl time at happy hour. I showed up with my hair in a messy bun, no makeup, the biggest fuzzy sweater I owned, and a pair of Uggs. Hey, I wasn't trying to impress anybody! Michael came wandering in, recognized Sabrina, and took a seat directly across the table from me. My first words to my future husband were, "Hi, I'm Mackenzie. I don't normally look like this." Over the next few months, our clique met at the same dive bar every so often. Whenever one of us got up from the table, our friends would rearrange so we'd end up having to sit next to each other. Michael and I's friendship grew, and a crush soon followed. The more I got to know him, the more I knew I was done for. He was the first guy I'd ever met who consistently went out of his way just to make me smile, he always followed through on what he said he was going to do, and at the end of the day I always wanted to talk to him the most. I guess over the same months, Michael developed a crush on me too. I'm not sure of his reasons, you'll have to ask him. I assumed he liked me back because one day we kissed, and since then we've never really stopped. We started officially dating in August 2021 because I said, "You're my boyfriend now," and he didn't decline. The two and a half years that followed have been the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for. We've made each other better people. We've made a house a home. We continuously make memories as a family with Wyatt and watch him grow. We question whose idea it was to get two dogs (mine, whatever). And on October 14, 2023, we got engaged! We cannot wait to begin the rest of our lives together on November 2, 2024. Thank you all for being a part of our love story!
