Their story began at work, in the halls of a middle school. Sofia was a behavior specialist working with students with special needs, and Justin was an English teacher with a passion for coaching. Their paths crossed when she asked him to help coach the Special Olympics team. Coaching flag football was new to her, but with his background in coaching, he seemed like the perfect fit. One afternoon, he came to her office to discuss the upcoming season and what the coaching role would look like. What was meant to be a brief meeting quickly turned into hours of conversation. They found themselves talking about everything, from their favorite movies to their personal stories, laughing and connecting in ways neither of them had expected. It didn’t take long before he took the risk and asked her out….and the rest is history.
