Our story began at Hofstra University in 2018, where we both immersed ourselves in the film department. Mackenzie, just a sophomore, made waves by jumping in to assist on senior films—an impressive feat for her year. She quickly became part of a lively group of quirky and charming guys, forming friendships that would last through their graduation. However, her journey took a turn when she studied abroad during the fall of her junior year (Brian's senior year), leaving her to miss a whole semester with her new friends. Upon her return, the first familiar face she encountered on campus was Brian—an unexpected reunion, to say the least! At that moment, neither of them was thinking about the possibility of a romantic connection. However, after spending extensive amounts of time with one another away from Hofstra's campus working on multiple short films, their friendship began to grow into something deeper and more meaningful. On short film in Connecticut, Brian, as always, bit off more than he could chew in this murder thriller. He enlisted Mackenzie's help (although she was producing the whole thing) creating fake blood, scattering mannequin body parts, and determining how realistic the blood splatters looked. Realizing there might be a connection between the two them Brian began to pursue Mackenzie, subtly. So subtly that Mackenzie did not notice. With encouragement from friends, Mackenzie and Brian found themselves spending more time together, and their friendship quickly blossomed into a romance just two months before Brian graduated. It was an unconventional timing, especially since Mackenzie still had her senior year ahead, and things felt a bit off without Brian and the crew around. Although Brian was based in Massachusetts, he frequently traveled to Long Island for film work and to be with Mackenzie, showing their commitment to making the long-distance relationship work. Their dedication to each other during this challenging time speaks volumes about their bond. Eventually, the distance became overwhelming, and during the pandemic, Mackenzie and Brian took a significant step by moving in together. Mackenzie relocated to Boston, where they set up their first apartment in Jamaica Plain. From that point on, it felt like a happily ever after. They now share their lives with a tuxedo cat named Milo and a beagle named Decker. Their little family is thriving and happier than ever—though Mackenzie often jokes that they could always use a few more furry friends!
