Our story

Gods time is the best time

In 2017, Oritseweyinmi and Pilar first met at a party through a mutual friend. They crossed paths again in 2020 at Pilar’s birthday event, and then once more toward the end of 2020 at Lake Merritt, a meeting they both now recognize as divine timing. It was after that encounter that their relationship truly began to grow, rooted in a genuine friendship and a shared love of music. Oritseweyinmi often reflects on what first drew him to Pilar. From the moment he saw her, she was unlike anyone he had ever met. The way she carried herself stood out to him, he could tell she wasn’t from anywhere around there. And when he heard her sing, it was unlike anything he had ever experienced in real life. Of course, her beauty only added to what had already captivated his heart. For Pilar, Oritseweyinmi became a place of safety and comfort. She loved being around him so much that she would drive to his house even if it was only for fifteen minutes, just to talk before heading to work. His humor had a way of easing her mind and making even the shortest moments together feel light, joyful, and always worth it. Like many meaningful relationships, theirs was not without challenges. Over the years, they experienced both highs and lows, including a five-month separation in 2023. During that time, Oritseweyinmi began earnestly seeking Christ and felt led to reach out to Pilar, inviting her to church and sharing his testimony. Shortly after, Pilar also gave her life to Christ. From that point on, they chose to focus fully on the Lord, allowing Him to rebuild and sanctify the foundation of their relationship. They committed to seeking God in every step, trusting Him to restore their relationship according to His will. On November 29, Oritseweyinmi proposed to Pilar at the Boston Common under a willow tree, a moment made even more meaningful by the Bible verse the Lord had given them for their relationship and His promise of children: “They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like willow trees by flowing streams.” — Isaiah 44:4 Their relationship is a true testimony of how God can intentionally separate, cleanse, and restore something beautifully for His purpose. They are deeply grateful for the life God has prepared for them and for all He has brought them through together.
