Two thousand and eight was the year. Erin and I both had our final english course of high school together, not knowing what was to come later in our young adult lives as prepared for university life. We would joke often in english class about any and everything, but one thing I never joked about was my attraction to Erin. (Not seriously of course..Haha) Our teacher (my coach) would always hassle me about bothering Erin and having the chance to save me from getting kicked out of class, she NEVER told the teacher once that I wasn't bothering her. (She enjoyed watching me getting punished..) I often times would see her smile at me through the small window looking into the class as I was in the hall awaiting my return to my seat so I could bother her again. As the years passed, we didn't lose much contact. The "happy birthday" messages, long conversations about people we dated and random lunches/dinners would solidify the friendship we formed. We each thought this friendship was merely platonic because the frequency we each saw each other, until I randomly asked if I could visit her on Christmas in 2015. To my surprise, every one in her family had their eyes on me & her and only one conclusion came to their minds: they REALLY like each other. (We didn't see that at all..) Although, Erin and I never talked about dating before I graduated from university, she and I both knew that a unique chemistry existed between us. April first of two thousand and seventeen, I sent her a photo on social media reminding her that "You are a queen and anyone would be luck to have you", while on vacation. Feeling shocked, surprised and heart-warming, those feelings carried on with Erin until we saw each other face-to-face in May of that year. I gifted her simple things, but we took a second (and long) look at each other as if we were meeting for the first time again. Our gaze at each other excited us to explore this "thing" we had overlooked long ago..
