Alan and I met at Cocoa Cinnamon in Durham, NC for coffee. We sat across the street from the coffee shop and talked for hours. Our engagement photos were taken at this exact same coffee shop, 3 years to the date that we met!
Alan had been "sneaky" for the past few weeks, telling me he was doing "wedding stuff". On Sunday December 18th, he had to run out again... with a HUGE smile on his face. The dog had vomited and my mom and Makenzie came over to help me wash him off (I can't wash him due to my allergies). I had a feeling he was going to propose (because he cannot keep a secret) and even asked my friend Kelly if I should put on makeup and do my hair. He told me he was going to dinner with my Dad, so that increased the chances! (I didn't want him to know I suspected) Well, he came home, came up the stairs (I was washing dishes) and I was waiting to see his "I can not keep a secret goofy grin" and instead, he looked exhausted and bent over to pet our dog. At that point, I figured he had found the ring but it needed to be resized. He walked into the kitchen, I had my hands in soapy dish water and he touched my shoulder. I turned around and the ring was even with my nose and he asked to marry me. He started crying and was overcome with emotion, and I was giggling at him because he was so cute standing there so happy. I was surprised, and of course, said YES!
We are having a small wedding! (Unless we hit the lotto before August 19th!) A wedding is about the joining of 2 families, and our hope at the end of this fun weekend- is that you feel like you have gained a few more relatives. We want to leave our wedding weekend knowing that you had a good time, and loving each other as much as we love you!
