How we met

We met at freshman orientation in May 2010 at UC Merced. Zac was the first person I talked to and he was so excited about his classes and we were talking about our high school experiences and the drive to get to the school. We talked about what we imagined our futures to be like. We never exchanged information or saw each other until the following semester, and Zac still remembered my name! He invited me to hang out with him and his friends at DnD and we spent time over pizza and Hi-chews.

The chase

We were friends first! We messaged each other every day, and he felt like a close friend. We would wish each other "good morning", share some small parts of our day, and then wish each other "good night". This continued for nearly every single day. Even though I was no longer attending UC Merced, we stayed connected. I was accepted to a few different UCs and was finally set on going to UC Irvine, where his hometown was. We were planning on meeting up together and he would be able to show me around. My mom was joking that he was my boyfriend, and even when she did joke, I was really nervous about meeting up with him even though he was so consistently there for me. We ended up talking on the phone about meeting up, and from that point, we had shared that we actually both liked each other, well enough to actually end up going on our first date, going to the Phantom of the Opera musical concert.

The proposal

Hiding the ring for the past month, I wasn't sure when to ask. I knew that we were always together and our lives would be leading up to this moment. We had been together for the last 9 years so I didn't think she would be surprised. When I had asked her to marry me, she was speechless! She cried and didn't even answer but placed the ring on her finger. We then proceeded to go announce the news to our families.
