Lucky for us, we have very observant (and slightly meddlesome) friends. They spotted our love story from miles away — or more accurately, across the neon glow of an arcade bar at a mutual friend’s birthday party. We, however? Completely oblivious. What our friends dramatically staged as a “life-changing introduction” felt to us like, “Oh nice, another cool person from the community.” We nodded. We smiled. We returned to our arcade games. Meanwhile, our friends were probably high-fiving behind the scenes. But apparently, fate doesn’t need much to work with. First came the Instagram follow (modern romance at its finest). Then a few totally casual, definitely-not-on-purpose sidelong glances across a theater. And finally… the pickup line that will live in infamy as the cheesiest line of all time: "Want to grab some coffee and exchange some words?" Yes. Exchange. Some. Words. Shockingly, it worked. After that first date, the rest was history — and we have our amazing friends to thank for seeing what we couldn’t and giving our story the nudge it needed. ✨
