Onyx & Preston first met in college and not in the way you think! Onyx worked for Chaffey’s photo department as a dark room lab technician. Preston happened to be a student in the class she would be assisting. They both still remember the first time they saw each other. She walked into his classroom and they locked eyes and that was it. Preston said to his classmate, “I have to talk to this girl” and she remembers thinking “Oh man am I in big trouble.” In that moment they knew that something was bound to happen. Well at least both knew they wanted it to. Preston of course made the first move and Onyx likes to think she played hard to get but not really. After a few short months of deep conversations, belly aching laughter, Preston annoying Onyx, long car rides, an Eddie Vedder album, an unexpected note and 27 little paper airplanes later...the rest was history. Just like that...Who knew they would be not only spending the rest of their lives together but becoming the best of friends.
The couple planned a road trip for their 1 year anniversary. They were off to the Yosemite national park! They booked a cabin for 5 days so they had plenty of time to explore. That time of year was really cold and had tons of snow. So it was perfect. Preston decided he was going fo propose on their annivesary, December 27th. He knew how much Onyx loved bridges. So he found the perfect spot. It was a little walk to the bridge and it was next the lower falls of Yosemite. On the way fo the bridge they stopped in front of the waterfall and Preston decided that this would be an even more perfect moment to propose. It was just them. Surrounded by snow filled trees and the beautiful falls. He started to tell Onyx how much he loved her and got down on one knee. Onyx felt like she went deaf and blind all at the same time. So she barely heard what he was saying! She was so excited! Preston finally said that he wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and asked her to marry him. She said yes of course! The ring was a little big but Onyx was going to wear it anyway. So she stuffed a little piece of tissue under the ring to keep it in place. They had a wonderful rest of the trip. Explored the park and got to see the giant redwoods they had been waiting to see. They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect trip. (Click on the photo tab to see a few pictures)
