Matron of Honor
Erica and I met at UNC-Charlotte back in 2009 on a party bus our freshman year — and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We’ve lived together, worked together, joined the same sorority, and even gotten tattoos together. She’s been my ride-or-die through every phase of my adult life — from our wild single days to motherhood and everything in between. I was honored to stand beside her as her Maid of Honor, and now she’s returning the love as mine. She’s the Godmother of my oldest son, and I’m the Godmother of hers — a bond that will truly last a lifetime. I can’t think of a single chapter in my life that Erica hasn’t been a part of, cheering me on every step of the way.
Matron of Honor
I was blessed with not just one, but two best friends! I met Zinia on that same party bus our freshman year at UNC-Charlotte, and from that night on, she’s been my ride-or-die. In our younger years, she was my partner in every adventure, but as we’ve grown, she’s become one of my greatest supporters in Christ. Whether it’s a silent prayer or out-loud advice rooted in the Word, I know she always has my back. I had the honor of being her Maid of Honor more than a decade ago, she gave me my first Godson, and now she’s the Godmother to my youngest son. Our friendship has truly stood the test of time and faith.
Bridesmaid
My baby sister — my built-in best friend. I’ve been her protector our entire lives, and she’s always been my biggest supporter. We’ve been through so much together, and she’s stood by my side through every major moment — including the births of both of my sons. I couldn’t imagine this day without her right next to me. I may be the loud and assertive one, but Rochelle is the quiet storm — calm on the surface, yet far more powerful when she needs to be.
Bridesmaid
It was friendship at first sight! Asia did my makeup for my maternity shoot with my oldest son, and she was pregnant at the time with the little boy who would later become my son’s best friend. I didn’t know it then, but the meaningful conversation we shared that day would be one of many. Since then, she’s become one of my closest friends, always so thoughtful in her love and support. She went from making me feel beautiful during one of the most special seasons of my life to now standing beside me — and doing my makeup — for one of the most meaningful days of my life.
Bridesmaid
My ACE! Lauren is my Sorority sister, and I’m so thankful that Alpha Kappa Alpha brought us together. We met in 2018 at Queens University and quickly became part of an unbreakable trio. Lauren is fiery — maybe even more than me — and she was the heart and performer of our line. When the other two of us were completely exhausted, she was our cheerleader, lifting our spirits and pushing us to keep going. Her energy, strength, and loyalty have been constant ever since, and I’m so grateful to have her standing by my side on this day.
Bridesmaid
Deucey! Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority gave me a second line sister, and in 2018 at Queens University, I met the calm of our trio. Always able to cool our fire while adding the perfect touch of comic relief, Z is one of the strongest and most resilient women I know. Having her back has truly been an honor, and I’m so thankful to have her backing me on my special day.
Bridesmaid
Drew’s little sister who has accepted me since day one! I’ll never forget the first time we met — Erin looked at me and said, “You’re so pretty,” and from that moment, I was sold. She made me an aunt to the most beautiful little girl, and over the years, she’s truly become my little sister. I’ve seen her that way for a long time, and I can’t wait to finally make it official.
Bridesmaid
My Godsister/Cousin, our families have known each other for three generations, with us creating the fourth. Our bond runs deep! In adulthood, Cherese, Ebony, and I were truly the three musketeers; we partied together and grew together; and Cherese and I share the same sorority. One of the most meaningful moments of my life was when she pinned me into our sorority with the very pin my mother used to pin her - a full circle moment that I will always cherish. She has always protected me, guided me, and been someone I've looked up to. I had the honor of standing beside her as a bridesmaid in her wedding, and now I'm so excited to have her standing beside me in mine.
Bridesmaid
Ebony, more fondly known as Ebby, is the big cousin I inherited through Cherese and blood couldn't have made us any closer. We've been through so much together; the good, the bad, and the absolutely hilarious. We have stories to last us a lifetime. Always the voice of reason in our trio, Ebby made sure that I never left the house looking a mess; from doing my hair to letting me borrow her clothes. Her grace and caring heart are truly infectious, and I am so honored to have her by my side for yet another memory to add to our story.
Bridesmaid
Jasmine, my oldest cousin — someone I’ve always looked up to. As a little girl, I couldn’t wait to grow up and become her friend. Not only did we become friends, but we traveled together and even became sorority sisters. Protective doesn’t begin to describe her — just know my big cousin truly does not play about me. I’m so blessed to have her by my side on my wedding day.
Best Man
Eric and I met in 2009 at UNC-Charlotte, where we both lived in Moore Hall, and we’ve been locked in ever since. We’ve been through the thick and thin together, including living together for several years — even when Onya moved in. Eric is cool, calm, and collected, and he’s always been the person I can count on no matter what. He was the first person I called when we found out we were pregnant, and he is the Godfather to our oldest son. Eric shows up every time I need him, and I know he’ll be the steady presence keeping everyone calm on our wedding day.
Groomsman
Paul and I met in 2009 at UNC-Charlotte, where we both lived in Moore Hall, and he’s been a constant in my life ever since. Paul has always shown up for me — steady, dependable, and grounded in his faith. He’s never been afraid to speak his mind, even if it ruffles a few feathers, but that honesty comes from a place of deep care and integrity. Protecting and serving others is simply who he is. Paul is the Godfather to our youngest son, and we’ve walked through so many parallel life moments together — buying our first homes around the same time and welcoming our children into the world around the same seasons. He gives some of the best advice, and I know he’ll be a strong, supportive presence for me on our wedding day.
Groomsman
Matt and I met at UNC-Charlotte in 2011, and we lived together for three years during college — building a friendship that’s stood the test of time. Matt has always been incredibly supportive, and I truly value and respect the advice he gives, whether it’s about relationships or life in general. We also shared the experience of becoming fathers around the same time, which deepened our bond even more. I had the honor of standing beside him as a groomsman in his wedding, and now I’m grateful to have him by my side. Matt is chill, caring, and always offers a different perspective — one I appreciate because it challenges me to see life through a new lens. I know he’ll bring a calm, steady presence on our wedding day.
Groomsman
Justin is my younger brother, and I couldn’t be more proud of the man he is today. He is diligent and disciplined — qualities I’ve always admired in him. Growing up, I wasn’t just his big brother; I had the privilege of helping raise him, which makes our bond even stronger. Justin is steadfast in his faith and has such a caring heart, especially with our boys — he’s an incredible uncle to them. On our wedding day, I know Justin will show up in whatever way he’s needed, just as he always has.
Groomsman
David is Onya’s brother, but from the very beginning, he’s treated me like family — sometimes even taking my side over his own sister. I’ve always admired David’s deep love for his family and his instinct to protect the people he cares about. Even from hours away, he’s always a present uncle, never too far to travel for a birthday, milestone, or special moment. On our wedding day, I know David will show up in the best way for both me and his sister — handling anything that comes up with true little-big-brother energy.
Junior Groomsman
Emmett is Onya’s youngest brother, and he’s lived with us since 2020 — making him feel much more like a third son than a brother-in-law to me. I’ve had the privilege of not only watching him grow into a young man, but also being actively involved in his development along the way. I’ve always seen a lot of myself in Emmett, and we bond over anime, sports, TV shows, and video games. He’s caring, smart, and determined, and truly the best uncle to our boys — who are much more like little brothers to him. He’s a wonderful role model for them, and on our wedding day, I know he’ll be present with his amazing, contagious smile.
