Interestingly enough, Andrew and Bridget went to Shrine High School in Royal Oak together, but never dated. It wasn't until after college that they ran into each other at a bar in downtown Detroit, and a few weeks after that Andrew asked Bridget on a date in February 2015 to Craftwork, in Indian Village. Afterwards, they drove around the city looking at old mansions on the Detroit River, which is both of their favorite things to do.
Thinking back on it, there are a few things that stick out to me that should have made the night of the proposal somewhat obvious - for starters, Andrew proactively making dinner reservations, the restaurant he picked, and lastly, the blazer. After a fun dinner at the Apparatus Room, I saw a group of people leave their table to head on a tour of the new Foundation Hotel, which was the former Detroit Fire Department. I insisted on doing a tour, little did I know, that was already in his plan. As we approached the final stop of the tour, I was lagging a little behind, Andrew told me to "hurry up". We opened the door to the Commissioner's Suite, flowers literally everywhere. He told me to put my wine down, he got down on his knee, and then asked me to marry him! My hands started aggressively shaking as he put the ring on, and he says at the end "yes - it fits!"
