The couple met following Zach’s separation from the Navy after 12 years of service. He decided to move to Austin and begin a new chapter. In his new position as a school director, he needed to learn how to be a teacher and McKenzie was perfect for the task! They were introduced and Zach observed her classroom as she taught. He remembered little about the lessons and couldn't focus on anything but her. Zach, being the polite gentleman he is, wanted to wait for the right moment to spark up a more friendly conversation with Mckenzie, so he waited and waited and waited. It wasn’t until the company Christmas party, at a piano bar, that they would meet up again. McKenzie was carefree, singing and dancing to every song in that piano bar, and quickly caught Zach’s attention yet again. Then disaster struck! Her favorite heels couldn’t match her energy level and broke. She could have decided to call it a night, but that’s not McKenzie’s style. Thanks to a supportive friend, she traded her broken leopard print heels for a pair of white boots and continued the night. Zach joined her on the dance floor where their attraction quickly flourished. Eventually, the bar had to close, but that wasn’t the end of the night. Zach offered to take McKenzie back to her car where they continued to talk about anything and everything into the early morning hours. They continued to talk and get to know one another more after that night, but McKenzie couldn't believe Zach was taking so long to actually ask her out! Unbeknownst to her, Zach was just waiting again for the right moment. McKenzie waited, and waited, and waited, and finally decided to take matters into her own hands and asked Zach out herself. They met up for Italian food and karaoke where they shared the stage singing and dancing to a crowd full of strangers. They finished the night by playing their own tunes and dancing in the parking garage. Both of them knew that they had found someone special and continued their relationship; everything was fitting into place seamlessly for both of them. Zach has become an amazing role model and stepfather to McKenzie’s son Fletcher. While Mckenzie has become a parent to Zach’s dog Apollo, and his handsome cat Monsieur. Can't forget the newest member of their household, Mac, a kitten that Zach and Fletcher adopted together! All together they have created their own loving family of 6!Keeping with the holiday theme of their relationship, Zach proposed during their first Christmas morning together. They’re loving the new life they’ve cultivated together and are excited to see what else is in store for them!
