We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Mei-lin and Billy were both visiting their friends at SIU Carbondale over New Year’s Eve weekend. The first night, the friend group was playing a game and the first person to look at their phone had to give it to someone who was then dared to text whoever they wanted from that phone. Mei-lin of course looked at her phone first and Billy was given the dare. He decided to be clever and he texted himself so that Mei-lin would have his number. They have texted every day since!

After Mei-lin and Billy met, they quickly became a couple. They had many significant moments together including vacations, adopting their perfect cat, and moving in together. Over Memorial Day weekend 2021, Billy set a dinner date at the same restaurant as where they had their first date for Saturday evening. Mei-lin changed the date to Friday, so that she could go out with her friend on Saturday. During dinner, Mei-lin poked fun at the fact that she was still not engaged and probably wouldn’t be for several months. However, outside of the restaurant, Billy got down on one knee and proposed! Mei-lin said, “This isn’t happening!” but more importantly said “YES!” Despite the changed date, and the bad weather that night, it was a perfect moment with just the two of them. After Mei-lin had a chance to breathe, she called her parents, close friends, and celebrated with Billy’s family!
