Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch on the windward coast of Oahu. Ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. with reception to follow. All wedding events will be outdoors.

Question

What time should we arrive at ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts promptly at 4:00 p.m. so we ask that everyone be in their seats no later than 3:45 p.m. If you're driving from Waikiki, plan on at least a 45 minute drive. Also, keep in mind that where Kualoa Ranch is, the highway is reduced down to one lane so if there's an accident or traffic, it could create delays. Better to arrive early than late!

Question

Where do I park at the venue?

Answer

Type "Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch" into your GPS to enter at the right location. Once you enter Kualoa Ranch, head towards the left side of the Ranch (when facing the mountains). Follow the road between the buildings towards the mountains. Continue past the buildings up the road towards Paliku Gardens. You will see signs for the Ortega wedding. Paliku Gardens is nestled just below the mountains. Free parking is available on the lawns directly adjacent to the site (to the right when facing the mountains). There is no parking allowed overnight.

Question

Is there Uber and/or Lyft?

Answer

O‘ahu does have both ride-sharing services, but mostly centralized in urban Honolulu. There are virtually no Ubers/Lyfts by Kualoa Ranch, where the wedding venue is located.

Question

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Answer

While we love your little ones dearly, the wedding ceremony and reception will be adults-only. The time difference and remote location of the venue can be rough for children. While the wedding itself is adults-only, your kids may attend any of our other pre and post wedding festivities. If you need a recommendation for a local babysitter, let us know. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Let us help you have a fun parents night out!

Question

What is the wedding attire?

Answer

We would love to see our family and friends dress up for our wedding day! Semi-formal, Cocktail or Formal attire will pass the vibe check. As a reminder, the events of the day will all take place outdoors, so dress accordingly. Women: Cocktail dress, long dressy skirt & top, or dress up in evening gown. Wedges or flats are recommended as all events will be on grass. Skinny heels or stilettos will sink into the grass and are not recommended. Men: Dress shirt or collared shirt, dress pants or slacks. Tie/bowtie is optional. Dress shoes. Please no shorts. Save your best Hawaiian attire for our welcome events and day after fun!

Question

What is the time difference on island?

Answer

O'ahu operates out of Hawaiian Standard Time, which is 5 hours behind the EST timezone. I.e. 9:30 p.m. in Hawaii may feel like 2:30 a.m. to your body. The time change jet lag is real!

Question

What's the weather like?

Answer

In November, the weather in Oahu will range from low 70's to the low 80's. Sprinkles will be expected at some point of the day during late November.

Question

What should I pack for the trip?

Answer

Your bathing suit! Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, breathable short-sleeved collared shirts. Maybe a light, thin zip-up hoodie for the evenings when it gets cool. Bring sneakers or hiking shoes if you plan on going hiking, but you'll probably want to wear flip-flops or sandals for the rest of the time. Bring reef safe sunscreen (it is also sold everywhere on island), a hat, sunglasses, phone chargers, a car charger, and extra room in your suitcase to bring home Hawaiian goodies! And of course, pack something nice for the wedding! We recommend bringing your own snorkels if you would plan to snorkel at all. We take ours with us everywhere on island and are happy to give recommendations.
