We met on the first day of classes at JMU in 2014 (my junior year, Alex's "junior" year). We had assigned seats for our College of Business 300 semester and Alex came over and said that he thought I was in his seat, so I had to move over one seat. We sat next to each other all semester and became friends as well as "study buddies". Didn't start dating until almost two years later after graduation!

Alex had planned a brunch for us to celebrate purchasing our new home. All week leading up to it I thought something was suspicious, until the day before when my friends tricked me into thinking that it probably wasn't happening that weekend. They knew I was speculating and wanted to throw me off so that I would be surprised- and it definitely worked! We went to brunch and then walked around Dumbarton Oaks Gardens in Georgetown. The gardens were beautiful and we waited at this picturesque overlook spot to ask someone to take our picture. A nice couple taking a picture of the pear tree next to us kindly said they would. As I handed them my phone, Alex told them we were celebrating and they asked us what we were celebrating. I said "we just bought a house!" and Alex said "but that isn't the only thing we're celebrating". As I turned to look at him, he was down on one knee and then I blacked out because I'm not sure what he said. :)
