ACCORDING TO JASON- I met Stephanie at a New Year's Eve party at ISU. I was packing to go to California when my friend asked me if I wanted to go to ISU for New Years with a group of people. I almost didn't go since I was flying out of Chicago the next morning and I recently had shoulder surgery. Of course I gave in and went. While I was at the party, Stephanie and her friends came in and they joined us playing games. Stephanie kept taking my hat off of my head and mocking me being in a shoulder sling. She would tuck her arm under her shirt and play with one arm. I actually thought it was really funny and loved her sense of humor from the moment we met. We stayed by each other most of the night until she left. I asked for her number and I texted her the next day. We began talking every day. About a week later, we went on our first date. I remember thinking she blew me off because she was like 40 minutes late (She had to drive since I was still in a sling). But she showed up and we went to a movie. ACCORDING TO STEPHANIE- I met Jason at a New Year's Eve party at ISU. I had been at a different party with my girlfriends when they said they wanted to meet up with some of their friends at a different party. When we got there, I couldn't help but notice Jason. How could I not notice the tallest guy in the room wearing the biggest shoulder sling in the world? If you ask him, he will say I made fun of him all night. Don't believe him. I only made fun of him half the night. I remember spending the entire time around him and a few other friends playing games. At the end of the night he asked for my number and texted me the next morning. The night was a little bit of a blur for me because of how long ago it was, not because of the alcohol...but there was no way I was forgetting Jason! We spent every minute of every day texting. Jason even came to visit me at school most weekends. A few months later we were "official" and the rest is history!
ACCORDING TO JASON- We planned a vacation to go visit my Dad in California. I knew I wanted to propose on NYE since that was when we met. We ended up flying into Palm Springs and taking the tram up to the top of Mt. Jacinto. The plan was to go hiking and wait for an overlook to pop the question. I was so nervous the whole day. I was nervous about losing the ring, about her seeing the ring, and what if she said no! Before going up on the tram, we stopped back at the car and I grabbed the ring. I thought I was being so sneaky about it but there was no way she didn't know. Once we got up there, we hiked a small trail that led to an overlook facing Palm Springs. We were taking pictures of the overlook when I asked the couple next to us to record because I was going to propose. I climbed up on the rock next to her and that is when I asked her to marry me. ACCORDING TO STEPHANIE- Jason and I were taking a vacation to visit his Dad in California. We flew into Palm Springs on New Year's Day and had a full day to ourselves before heading towards his Dad's the next morning. We decided to take a tram ride up to Mt. Jacinto. With it being such a busy time of the year we had to wait for hours before taking the tram ride up to the mountains. From the moment we got there, even through all the waiting, I was having so much fun. My favorite moments are the moments I'm traveling with Jason. When we finally made it to the top of the mountain there was only one other couple on the trail we decided to take. Maybe it had something to do with all the snow, but we weren't going to let it stop us! Once we got to the view-point we started taking a couple of pictures. Jason asked the other couple to take a picture of both of us and that is when he proposed. On the top of a giant snow-covered rock overlooking the valley. It was perfect. Did I see it coming? Of course :) but that didn't make it any less special.
