It all started at Teachers College of San Joaquin when Andy walked into class on the first day of our program. Utterances from my classmates such as, "Oooooh he's cute" and "When the program is over, I'm setting you up" were the theme of the conversations throughout the program. Little did I know, those words would become a reality! Our first encounter was when we were paired up to do a group project, along with another classmate. We showed up on presentation day and Andy was not prepared (he was going through a rough time with a previous employer, which I didn't know at the time). I was obviously frustrated that he didn't have his part done, but in good ole Andy fashion, he was able to pull off his part of the presentation with only minutes to prepare! Throughout the rest of the program, we didn't talk much (he thought I hated him after the presentation mishap). One vivid memory I have is when we were in the break room on our dinner break. I brought a can of clam chowder for dinner (no time for actual meals) and was heating it up. When I opened the microwave, it exploded all over me. Andy ever so kindly helped me get the clam chowder out of my hair (so sweet!). Fast forward about a year when we were finishing up our Masters literature review. We happened to get paired up again, to do a "walk and talk." We swapped papers and offered suggestions. Then we walked around campus and discussed our feedback. I had started to develop feelings at this point and was nervously attempting to give constructive feedback. On our last day of class, a few of us met at Chili's to celebrate. Andy bought me a drink and we chatted for awhile. As we were leaving, one of my friends walked with Andy out to the parking lot and handed him a napkin with my number on it, saying to ask me out. Which he did...and the rest is history! We are both so grateful that God brought us together in such a unique way. We couldn't feel more blessed to have each other and begin our journey together!
