This is the main area of the beach town of York. There are cute shops and restaurants, including The Goldenrod, which is a diner style restaurant with salt water taffy that can be seen being made in the windows. Nightlife here includes drinks, food, and live music at various bars and restaurants such as the Sand Dollar Bar & Grille and Inn on the Blues.
This is the beach within walking distance (about 10 minutes) from the Viewpoint Hotel and directly across the street from the Stone’s Throw Hotel. There are umbrellas, chairs, and beach games for rent from the Stone’s Throw if needed.
Although we believe Maine lobster is good no matter where you get it, the most cost effective way to try it would be at the lobster pound (there’s one in the surrounding towns of Wells and Ogunquit). They’ll even crack the lobsters ahead of time, to make it easier to practice your lobster eating skills before the big day!
Sarah’s family jokes that there is life before this ice cream and there is life after. Quite possibly the best ice cream you’ll ever have in your life. They have every flavor you can imagine but we HIGHLY recommend the blueberry crumble!
One of our favorite surrounding beach towns! We recommend visiting Perkin’s Cove for shopping and restaurants and walking down the coastal and very scenic Marginal Way. Catch live performances at the Ogunquit Playhouse or browse in the downtown area. Get a taco and margarita at the Treehouse Taqueria and walk over to our FAVORITE bar in the area, the Front Porch, which features a live pianist each night who just might play your favorite song if you ask.
For those extending their stay in the area and up for a day trip, we recommend Portland! It’s about a 45 minute ride from York and features a gorgeous lighthouse as well as a downtown area with cobblestone streets, shopping, and delicious food.
