In 2005, Lauren and Austin attended Hildebrandt for 6th grade. They happened to be in the same science class, Mrs. Perkins’ class, studying butterflies that year. Seating was in alphabetical order, so Austin ended up sitting right next to Lauren. As expected, Lauren was always paying attention to the teacher. Meanwhile, Austin’s attention was on Lauren every day. He’d try to talk to her during class, but she’d ignore him (even though she had a huge crush on him too). One day, when Lauren kept trying to ignore him, Austin said, “That’s okay. I swear I’m gonna marry you one day.” Lauren laughed and rolled her eyes. Little did she know at age 11 he was right! Lauren was one of the many girls Austin dated in middle school, but Austin always saved a sweet spot in his heart for Lauren. They always had a semi-secret crush on one another, but they were never single at the same time. They remained good flirty friends throughout high school and college. For those who know Lauren, she is the absolute worst at staying in contact with people she hasn’t seen in years. Yet they went 7 years after high school without seeing each other but still communicating, many times until 4am talking about life and their dreams for the future. Austin’s dreams always included Lauren, but Lauren thought he was joking and just being flirty. Boy was she wrong! One day when Lauren was visiting home in her 3rd year of law school, she decided to reach out to Austin to try and meet up. Austin was quick to accept the offer! It was their hug goodbye where Austin swayed her back and forth in his arms and then asked permission to kiss her on the cheek when the sparks between them became a massive flame. They both knew in that moment that they had found the one, even though they’d been in front of each other’s faces their whole lives. They’ve been inseparable since. Now, 17 years after Austin swore he was going to marry her one day, he finally gets to make true on his promise and make Lauren his bride!
