Well, this beautiful African queen hails from the lands of Fridley, Minnesota and moved to Nairobi, Kenya as a preschooler. She completed most schooling and up bringing in Kenya. Olivia moved back to MN and studied medicine at the University of Minnesota.
Steve was born and raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Aside from a few family vacations, he lived and experienced most corners of Minnesota until reaching adulthood. As a child, Steve played football and went to high school in Rosemount. He worked a lot and earned his B.S. Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
It was on a chilly day in January 2018, in the middle of Olivia’s crazy medical school schedule, that she had the pleasure of meeting her now fiancé, Steve. Guess what, it was the first time after several years back in MN that Olivia had heard of the St Paul Winter Carnival! Steve, a diehard Minnesotan, was thrilled to introduce Olivia to the Legendary Ice Castle and festivities to enjoy. He knew it was a special relationship when she challenged him to a sprint through the park without concern for how ridiculous they looked. Since then, we traveled and explored through the Minnesota seasons. [Big Winter (actual winter tundra), Small Winter (spring), Melting Sun / Construction Season (summer), and Pumpkin spice upon everything nice, all atop beautiful leaves season (fall)]. Our relationship has flourished despite being long distance since April 2018 because of Steve’s Army postings (MO to GA to MO to TX to Poland to Germany to TX and finally to VA.) By the grace of God, Olivia was matched to residency in Virginia around the same time Steve was stationed there. They have been living only about 90 miles (145KM) apart since mid-2020, and it has been glorious. Both of our schedules have been exceedingly crowded for the past four years. Olivia with medical school and residency, Steve with Army assignments. However, we have not hesitated to find time to meet and indulge in exciting new adventures whether virtually or traveling the country. From the True North in Minnesota, Gateway arch in St Louis, MO; Chattahoochee river in Columbus, GA; Balboa Park, hiking trails, San Diego Zoo and beaches in San Diego; driving the plains of central Texas; walking the Nation’s Capital and Shenandoah valley, Williamsburg, Neptune statue and famous Virginia Beach boardwalk! We have enjoyed our journey throughout the years, and we are immeasurably thankful for those who have been there for us. Our sights are set on a future marked with cherished relationships and exploration!
