Nicole: When I arrived at Alex's house for our first date I was super nervous, but all of that went away when Alex and I started talking. Alex and I had mutual friends, but had never met, but when we started talking we just clicked. He was cute and kind of awkward, like me, and had a smilier sense of humor which I really loved and I knew he was something special. When we got back to his house later that night we said our goodbyes, and I was really disappointed that he hadn't kissed me. I guess he read my mind, because as I was pulling out of his neighborhood he called me and told me he forgot something in my car, and before I left that time we shared our first kiss. Alex: Our first date: It was a Thursday and I had finally convinced Nicole to go on a date with me. I had been nervous about it all day at work I just wanted it to go perfect because I could tell something was different about her. It was time for the date and when Nicole got to my house I was so nervous. We went and got Mexican food and as soon as we started talking I could just tell something about Nicole was different like she was gonna make my life so much better. After dinner we went and saw Finding Dory then we went bowling where I won 2 games and Nicole only won once, but still to this day says she won the whole night. Then the night was sadly over, but it was the best date I had ever been on and I wanted to go on lots more dates! When we got to my house I was nervous again and made it awkward, but we kissed goodbye and it was like time had stopped, it was amazing.
Nicole: After our first date, I don't think we went 10 minuets without talking. I really liked him and wanted to hang out with him again, so on my way back from Statesboro to my dad's house in Atlanta I stopped at his house to hang out with him. We went to dinner and watched church online, and the simplicity was perfect. That day, three days after our first date, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Alex: On this day my life changed forever in an amazing way. Only 3 days after our first date I knew I wanted Nicole to be my girlfriend. We hadn't gone more than a few mins with out talking, and I just knew she would be a great person for me and our fur child Charlie to have in our lives. So when she came over that night it was a Sunday so we decided to watch church online. We were sitting on the couch and I was so nervous thinking about how I was going to ask her. So I just looked her in the eyes and we looked at each other for a few and it was just like she knew what I was going to ask because she started smiling and then I asked her to be my girlfriend. My life, our lives have been perfect ever since that day.
Over the next few months Nicole would head back up to Atlanta frequently to visit Alex, and then finally in September 2016 Alex made the move down to Statesboro. Over the past year we have created countless memories, including family holidays, vacations, exploring cities, Disney, and so much more, and we cannot wait to make a lifetime more.
Nicole: For our one year anniversary we had planned to go on a dolphin tour, something we were super excited to do. Alex picked me up from work and we headed to hilton head. The dolphin tour wasn’t until 7:15, so we decided to go down to the lighthouse for some shopping and views. We went into a couple stores, looked at the lighthouse, and then decided to go down to the beach for a couple minuets to watch the waves and relax. We stood and stared at the ocean for a while and I felt like I had the world in that moment, and then Alex got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him and, of course, I said yes! Alex: June 26 is a pretty special day for Nicole and I, not only was it our one year anniversary, but it was my first full day home after being gone for a month. While I was gone for that month I had thought about proposing a lot. Nicole thought I was going to propose on our beach trip in July, but I surprised her in Hilton head with a beach proposal. The whole world stoped the moment I got down on one knee and looked Nicole in the eyes and asked her if she would marry me. Even though I knew she was going to say yes I was still so nervous. When she said yes all I could do was smile and it was the happiest moment of my life so far.
