We were 16 when we briefly met at a friends house. It's funny because we are a grade apart, live two blocks away from one another, went to the same elementary, middle and high school and yet had never met before. I hadn't thought much of the encounter until a couple of months later when I heard Kevin was in a horrific car accident. He was immediately rushed to the ICU, where he had stayed for a few days. Rumors flew that he needed operations and was in critical condition. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a football fan, however, I attended our high school football game solely because it was Columbus Day weekend and everyone attends a fair after. While at the game, my friend and I saw Kevin and his friend and I wanted to ask him how he was feeling. We started talking and decided to walk to the fair together. On our walk, I explained to Kevin that I felt bad about not reaching out to him after the accident, but it was because I hadn't had his number. To make this clear, I in no way wanted Kevin's number, however, somehow he persuaded me to take it and the rest is history. xox, Karina
