...

Due to regulations of events on the beaches of Maui, we will be having a very intimate ceremony with only our immediate family. Though we are choosing to marry in private, all of you will be in our thoughts & hearts on that day. We hope you choose to join in celebrating with us at the parties our parents will graciously host for us at a later time.

How They Met

Taylor and Andrea met at their (at the time) place of work in March of 2013. Both were on closing shifts at the department store they were working at, Dillard's in Cedar Hill, Texas. They had brief meetings between shifts, shuffling through work; but one evening, Taylor came up to the women's contemporary department where Andrea worked and formally introduced himself. Andrea was taking some time scheduling her team for the following week, and Taylor joked that she was "hardly working". After a few moments of sarcasm, jokes and laughter, they continued to talk about where they were in life and the start of a new friendship began.

From "just friends" to "making it official"

It took some time before Andrea agreed to "go out" with Taylor! He persistently asked and attempted to convince her to join him to go dancing and hang out with other co-workers and friends; and after several attempts resulting in (mild) rejection...lol...Taylor then asked her to come out to a drive-in movie to help with her shy personality. After a few weeks of hanging out and learning more about each other, Taylor respectfully asked Andrea to exclusively date her and be his girlfriend on May 26th 2013, in the backyard of his childhood home in Midlothian, Texas. At that time, they were unaware that this day was also the anniversary of Taylor's parents, David & Shari. So now, it is fun to say that they share something special all together.

The Proposal

Taylor proposed marriage to Andrea on May 26th, 2018, their 5th "dating" anniversary. Andrea had a feeling that Taylor would choose that special day (and big milestone) to "seal the deal"! The morning of that day Andrea was full of anxiety, nervously anticipating Taylor to propose later and in public, at the Swan Lake performance he had taken her to on their first anniversary. To her comfort, Taylor walked in the bedroom with breakfast served on a silver platter engraved, "Will you marry me?" After a brief moment of excitement, laughter, and a precious speech made by the groom-to-be, Andrea said yes! It was the perfect moment to share in the privacy of their first home together, with their dog Beau.

Why Hawaii?

We want to address the question that many of you may be asking yourselves, "Why are they getting married in Hawaii?" The answer...Taylor is making Andrea's dreams come true! Andrea - "When I visited the island of Maui on my own, as part of a previous job I had with a family, I made a connection to Hawaii during my time there. During one of my last days on the island, I was offered a little bit of time to myself. I decided to walk along the beach and take some time to call Taylor and tell him how glad I was that he gave me the confidence to make the trip on my own. As I was walking, I saw a ceremony being set up for a wedding later that evening. It then came to me that this was the place I wanted to marry Taylor. Hawaii was the first place I had ever ventured to on my own, without immediate family. I did have people that I loved there with me, but it was truly the first time I felt "on my own". I've grown within myself and have been influenced from having spent time there; and have counted the days to going back. I am so excited that now I get to go back and marry the love of my life on the island that changed me forever. After a lot of consideration about having a "big" wedding at home, we decided together (through a lot of emotions!) that getting married during an intimate ceremony in a place that became special to me, was what Taylor wanted to do, not only for me, but for us together. Through tears, I did try to convince Taylor that "getting maui'd" was only something I wanted, and not something that I needed. That it didn't matter "where", but that we had a special time celebrating our union in marriage together. Taylor then reached for my phone to play a country song by Josh Turner called, "In My Dreams"; and explained that whatever makes me happy, makes him happy.". This decision was made to make our wedding, our own. We love all of our family and friends, and hope that you decide to make it to one or more of our events to help celebrate our marriage.

For all the days along the way
