How We Met

9.18.17

ER Room 17. It was a normal morning for both of us. 5 AM alarms. A cup or three of coffee. A busy morning of Emergency Room and Fire Department "to do's". I was assigned ER 16-19 this morning. It was mid day when I got *that* patient to ER Room 17. She was brought in via Grapevine EMS. Who would have thought that handsome Paramedic bringing her in would be the man by my side for the rest of my life. Things didn't blossom right away. I heard of him asking my supervisor a few questions about me and I thought "nope there's no way dating a fireman would work out." It took a little bit of some good advice to him (..lol thanks Kim) and a little convincing for me. 4 months later, my stubborn self decided to let the handsome fireman take me on a date. And my Lord, aren't I so glad I did. The rest is history... welcome to the next chapter in our story. We are SO GLAD you could be a part of it!

The Proposal

8.11.18

My mom, dad, and brother all lived in different parts of Texas at this time. My dad, in Boyd, Tx preparing some land he bought for him and my mom after Hurricane Harvey changed their lives. My mom, still in Winnie, Tx trying to make it to a point in Nurse Practitioner School where she could pause, relocate from Houston, and continue finishing out her Master's degree after the hurricane. My badass brother, playing college baseball in Kingsville, Tx. My family is my entire world, and this man of my dreams knew that. He didn't throw a big party. He didn't advertise his plan. When my dad rented a beach house in Crystal Beach, Tx for the family to meet at for the weekend (including my aunt and uncle from Louisiana), he saw his opportunity and took it. He had a ring beautifully custom made, asked my parents for my hand in marriage somehow without me knowing, and popped the question. It was a shrimp boil night (my favorite food). I had just showered after a long day relaxing/fishing at the beach, wet hair, no makeup, no nails done, in my pajamas, not expecting it one bit. As some of you have seen in the video my "Are you sure?" reaction. My mind raced with "Are you sure?" because I was in awe that this man would want to commit to me and walk hand in hand for the rest of his life. I would not change how this night unfolded for the entire world. Not even the part where my brother got the first hug from Drew after the proposal. :) And DANG did he do good on the ring!!!!
