Yes! Hunter and I are both Catholic. Mass is very important to us and our faith. Our mass will be a Traditional Latin Mass (see question #2). The mass and ceremony will take about an hour together.
A Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) is still 100% an authentic, Catholic mass. It is said in the way it used to be done before Vatican II (1962). Hunter and I attended the TLM most of our lives and it is the thing that brought us together. We find it a very beautiful way to celebrate our faith. The priest faces the altar with us in prayer. The prayers are in Latin, and some the priest says silently. The priest will read the readings in English after reading them in Latin, and his sermon will be in English. There is also some standing and kneeling. If you are unable to kneel, or are of a different faith, we understand. You may also see some women wearing chapel veils. That is another tradition. We wear them out of reverence, but if you do not have one or are uncomfortable wearing one that is perfectly fine as well! This is a beautiful celebration and we ask you to pray for us during it and enjoy it, not get caught up in technicalities.
Communion guidelines: Are you Catholic? If the answer is no, we kindly ask you to not receive communion. The Eucharist is a Catholic sacrament that is reserved to practicing Catholics. If the answer is yes, are you a practicing Catholic? i.e. do you attend mass every Sunday?
Parking at the ceremony is behind the church and in the parking garage across the street from St. Joseph's Old Cathedral. Parking at the reception is the gravel parking lot as you pull into the location.
