We were introduced through a mutual friend, and what began as a long-distance friendship—15 hours apart—quickly became something more. For two years, we connected daily through phone calls and FaceTime. While Ish was the first to express interest, it took time for my feelings to grow. In June 2022, during a visit to Kansas City to pick up his daughter, Ish stayed with me—and even met my parents as “just a friend” (at the time!). It wasn’t until he returned to South Carolina that I realized how much he meant to me. A few weeks later, we officially began dating—and we’ve never looked back. For seven months, we maintained a long-distance relationship. Ish flew in for special moments, and I traveled to South Carolina to meet his family. In February 2023, he made the move to KC, and we shared a cozy one-bedroom apartment with his daughter, Elliana. By July, we moved into our townhome, and we were all equally thrilled to have a space to call home. We knew early on that we were meant to be. We often joked about marriage, but I never expected the thoughtful proposal Ish planned with my best friend and a photographer—truly the sweetest surprise. Together, we've built beautiful memories, started meaningful traditions, and created a life we cherish. Meeting him was fate; falling in love with him and his daughter was meant to be. We can’t wait for this next chapter as the Castro family. #OnceUponACastro
