Emmanuel (Ommi) and Kathryn (Kate) met as children at TEACH then SEEK homeschool co-ops, through a mutual friend. As a 3rd grader, Kate wasn't the biggest fan of Ommi's because he was always hanging around her friend at school - though she doesn't remember this now. As time progressed, we actually did form a friendship consisting mostly of playing ping-pong together. As Kate's mom began to tease her about Ommi having a crush, she denied it and meanwhile Ommi began to actually develop feelings. Years later as teenagers, we hung out in groups and individually, texted each other, and people said we would flirt with each other.... but nothing ever happened. Hangouts turned to once-a-year catchups until one year it was 3 in the span of 2 months. As one thing led to another, Ommi asked Kate if she would be interesting in dating. Turns out he still liked her and was doing some planning, and Kate secretly had feelings too that she never shared. So our story began - a childhood friendship easily transitioned to a blossoming relationship as we grew closer together for 1.5 years. On June 14th, 2025, Ommi took Kate on a surprise date to Niagara Falls and asked her to marry him - to which she said "of course!" Now as we begin wedding planning, we are so excited to see where God leads us in the future and for each one of you to be there and share in our joy on the wedding day. Cuando Kate estaba en tercer grado, no era fanatica de Ommi porque él siempre estaba pegado a su amiga en la escuela —aunque ella ya ni se acuerda de eso. Con el tiempo, sí se fue formando una amistad, casi siempre jugando ping-pong juntos. La mamá de Kate empezó a bromear diciendo que a Ommi le gustaba, cosa que Kate negaba, mientras que Ommi de verdad comenzó a sentir algo por ella. Años más tarde, ya de jovenes, compartían en grupos y también a solas, se texteaban, y la gente decía que se coqueteaban… pero nunca pasó nada. Esos encuentros poco a poco se convirtieron en simples reuniones una vez al año, hasta que un año se vieron ¡tres veces en solo dos meses! De ahí, las cosas fueron fluyendo y Ommi le preguntó a Kate si le interesaría salir con él. Resultó que todavía le gustaba (y ya venía planeando algo), y Kate también guardaba sentimientos en secreto que nunca había compartido. Así comenzó nuestra historia: una amistad de la niñez que sin esfuerzo se transformó en una relación que fue creciendo por año y medio. El 14 de junio de 2025, Ommi llevó a Kate de sorpresa a las Cataratas del Niágara y le pidió matrimonio —a lo que ella contestó: “¡claro que sí!” Ahora que empezamos a planificar la boda, estamos llenos de ilusión de ver hacia dónde Dios nos guía, y de poder celebrar junto a cada uno de ustedes compartiendo nuestra alegría en ese día tan especial.
