Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market
One of Ally's favorite places growing up! On Saturdays from 7AM-12PM, the Des Moines Farmers' Market covers blocks of the city. Be sure to get some pastries, breakfast burritos, and some fresh sunflowers. Ranked #2 in the country for best farmers' market!
Iowa State Fair
The Iowa State Fair kicks off the same weekend of our wedding! If you are planning to make an extended stay in DSM, be sure to check out the fair. Attend a concert (Pitbull is playing 8/10), see the famous Butter Cow, and try fried everything on a stick! Admission $11 Adults and $7 Children.
East Village
Located about 7 min from our venue, the historic East Village is a lively, fun neighborhood area to eat, drink, and shop! Vibrant Coffeehouse is a favorite of Sean and Ally's. Find cool shops by day and trendy bars by night.
Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
If you are planning to stay awhile, we recommend visiting the Botanical Gardens! This beautiful dome facility is fun for the whole family. Admission $12 Adults and $9 Children.
Adventureland
Just outside of the city is Adventureland! If you know Ally, you know how much she enjoys amusement parks, and this one is a childhood favorite. From roller coasters to the outdoor water park, this is the place to be if you are extending your stay! Be sure to check out the Sidewinder, Ally's favorite ride.
Jordan Creek Mall
If you need to get in some light shopping while in town, we recommend the Jordan Creek Mall. Sean and Ally have spent a few afternoons here shopping til we drop. If you want to go back in time and witness a bustling mall, this is the place to be!
Smash Park Des Moines
Hop on over to West Des Moines to check out Smash Park! From pickleball courts, cornhole, and darts to big screens to watch sporting events, this place is a one-stop-shop for a night of fun!
