Waleed and Leslie met in October 2010 at an Atlantic City football game through mutual friends. Waleed did everything to get Leslie‘s attention. Truth be told, Leslie and Waleed both knew it was love at first sight. 3 years later Waleed packed up the courage to ask Leslie out. Senior year came and their relationship was still going strong, both accepting scholarships to row in college. However, Waleed was recruited to La Salle University, in Philadelphia, and Leslie was recruited to the University of Alabama. 945 miles may have seemed impossible for any young couple, but Waleed and Leslie knew that impossible did not exist when it came to their love for one another. Hopeful to reunite in the same town after 4 years of long distance, life had other plans for these two lovebirds. Leslie continued on to get her nursing degree in Bensalem, PA, while Waleed started his own business. Distance might have remained in this relationship, but their love for one another remained strong and only grew more and more each day. Once Leslie graduated in December, and landed a job in March, Waleed took her out to dinner to celebrate her first week of work. Being the clever fisherman Waleed is, he took her down to “check the tides” before dinner. He took her to the Longport Jetty, where he eventually got down on one knee and proposed! Of course her answer was yes!
