The Zocalo is located in the heart of Puebla’s Historic Center and it’s an important part of the set of historic monuments in the area named by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Center. Here you can glimpse one of the city’s finest examples of Baroque architecture: the Puebla Cathedral, completed in the 1640s.
The Callejon de los Sapos is a beautiful street in the city center of Puebla, offering its visitors the widest variety of antiques in its many stores. These stores are set in old houses, which were modified by their owners to offer their products to collectors, many of which are of great interest and historical value. Therey offer a wide variety of objects, from antique furniture to books. The market sets up every weekend starting at 10am.
El Parián is Puebla’s largest and only traditional handcraft market. It is one of the most-visited tourist attractions of the city. Located on the southeastern corner of Puebla’s historic center, it is surrounded by Barrio del Artista (Neighborhood of the Artist). In this area you can find a variety of local crafts.
The Biblioteca Palafoxiana is a library in Puebla City's historic center. Founded in 1646, it is recognized by the UNESCO for being the first and oldest public library in the Americas. It has more than 45,000 books and manuscripts, ranging from the 15th to the 20th century. In 2005, it was listed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
The Museo Amparo, located in the historic center of Puebla City, is one of the most important historical museums in Mexico. The museum is housed in two colonial-era buildings that date from the 17th and 18th centuries, which were popularly known as the Hospitalario. The museum's permanent collection traces Mexico's development over its history. It has one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern art in Mexico, with dates of pieces ranging from 2,500 BCE to the present day, covering the pre-Classic period to the Spanish Conquest.
Cholula is known for combining the history of a pre-Hispanic town with the architectural and cultural richness of colonial buildings. In this Magical Town coexist a few meters away the great symbols of two cultures: the Great Pyramid and the Franciscan Ex-convent of San Gabriel, one of the oldest convents in America. The iconic image of this town is the Church of Los Remedios, which is situated at the top of what was once the pre-Hispanic Great Pyramid. The majestic Temple of San Francisco Acatepec boasts an incredible façade made with Talavera pieces.
