Our love story began on an ordinary day that turned out to be anything but—Friday, November 24, 2023, the day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday. While most people were chasing sales, we were about to stumble into something far more priceless. We planned to meet at LACMA for jazz night, a perfect setting filled with art, music, and just the right amount of magic. As per usual, I was running late (some things never change), so I messaged Omar to figure out where we should meet. His reply? “Find me in the lights.” 🤭 At first, I wasn’t sure if he was being poetic, mysterious, or just messing with me. (Spoiler: He was definitely messing with me.)As I got off the elevator I could see that the museum was packed with people and families enjoying the atmosphere. When I called Omar to figure out where to meet and to see if he was serious about finding him in the lights we spotted each other, hugged and sat down near the lights to chat while we people watched. As we listened to the music and talked about our lives and childhoods, we connected in a way neither of us had ever felt before. As the jazz concert was coming to an end, neither of us wanted the night to end so we decided to grab a late dinner in DTLA. We talked about our dreams and goals, it felt easy, natural, almost as if we had known each other much longer than just one evening. When it was finally time to say goodbye, we walked to the valet. As we hugged, Omar said his goodbye with one final line, “I don’t kiss on the first date.” As we both left that line hung on both of our minds and is still one of my favorite memories of our first date. Since that night we've been inseparable. We can't wait to celebrate our special day with all of you. We hope to see you there. Love 💟 Janellie & Omar
