We walked into the computer lab the first week at our new jobs at Bohler Engineering. I saw Amna from across the room and thought she looked too cool to talk to. So I decided to only say hi for the next 2 years, not knowing that she was actually less cool than me. Well, I saw Omar walk in and thought "oh! I can make that dork my friend." After 2 years of trying to be this guys friend and only getting a "hi" in the halls once in a while, I gave up. He worked on the other side of the office anyways so what was the point. (Allah knows I was not going to walk that far to talk to anyone...). One morning, after a company meeting, we found that our office was going to be restructured. Next thing I know, this Omar Tun dude is sitting right next to me! And that my friends, is when he realized ... I was, in fact, less cool than him. Anyway, we became good friends after that - bonding over designing Taco Bell parking lots until 9 PM and having to explain to our coworkers why we couldn't go to lunch during Ramadan.
