Our Love Story

Temi and I started in the same place, even if we didn't know it yet. We both attended Covenant University back in Nigeria – me studying Civil Engineering, and her in Chemical Engineering. Looking back, our paths must have crossed numerous times on campus. I was definitely aware of her – who wouldn't "see" Temi? :) – but we never actually spoke during those years. It took traveling halfway across the world for us to finally connect. In January 2015, I arrived at Wayne State University in Michigan for a six-month exchange program, the new kid on the block. We met properly for the first time in the university cafeteria. That first conversation led to exchanging numbers, and slowly, we began building the friendship that has become the absolute foundation of our relationship. Even after the program ended, our connection continued to grow. Fate seemed to enjoy bringing us together, as we later found ourselves serving together during our NYSC year at the Lagos camp. For those intense three weeks, we were inseparable. It was during that time we really deepened our bond and laid the groundwork for something potentially more than friendship. Life led us on parallel paths for a bit, including both of us returning to the US and completing our Master's degrees. Then, in October 2019, with grad school behind us, the timing felt right. We officially became a couple. Since then, it has been an incredible journey – a wild ride filled with deep love and learning about each other on the deepest level. We've become each other's best friends, celebrating every win, supporting each other through every challenge, sharing pains, and most importantly, growing together every step of the way. It became abundantly clear to me that there's absolutely no one else I'd rather spend my life with than Temitope. Our proposal wasn't exactly traditional. Forget grand public gestures – I asked her to marry me right in the living-room. It felt real, intimate, and perfectly 'us'. Now, we're so excited to continue writing our story, to start this next chapter, and we truly can't wait to celebrate the proper way with all of you, our cherished friends and family.
