Our Story

Jackie was looking for jobs to apply to in the winter of 2022 when she stumbled on an advertisement for a job in Traverse City. Something in her told her to apply, and she received a job offer and moved to Traverse City within two weeks. Her firm is located upstairs in the PNC building, where the O’Grady development office is also located (where Kyle his dad and brother all work). She would see Kyle in the office and would also see his face in the local Traverse City news. It’s safe to say that she was curious about him. One day, Jackie received a notification from a dating app that Kyle O’Grady had liked her. Kyle commented on her profile and told her that he could help her learn how to golf. The two met for coffee and chatted about their lives for 30 minutes. The two of them felt like they had known each other forever. And so the next date was scheduled immediately. Kyle decided that they would both play pickle ball as their second and third dates. Flash forward to the fourth date, the first real date, when Kyle asked Jackie to get dinner with him. This date was at the Boathouse Restaurant. The two had a great time, even though Kyle was so nervous, he ended up talking to the guy next to him the majority of the night. Kyle took Jackie to his family’s property on Old Mission Peninsula. A dinner date turned into a long night of talking and laughing. The talking and laughing hasn’t stopped since. On August 30, 2023, after a dinner with Kyle’s parents, Kyle and Jackie drove down towards the water to watch the sunset. They forgot that it was the night of the big blue moon. The moon was so big and so bright hovering over Lake Michigan. The two of them went and sat down by the water and talked for hours. This was the night that Kyle asked Jackie to be his girlfriend. A few weeks later, the two of them drove to Saline for a wedding. It was the first time that Jackie was able to introduce Kyle to her two brothers and her parents. Jackie’s parents told her that they have never seen her so happy. And her brothers were impressed by Kyle. Jackie’s thoughts: her family absolutely adored him. Kyle first visited with Jackie’s grandma a few months before the proposal to inform her of his wishes to marry Jackie, since he knew how much her grandma means to Jackie. The two of them bonded so much and shared a special moment together. He even showed her Grandma the ring. A few weeks later, Kyle took Jackie’s dad, David, out to lunch. This is when Kyle asked David for his permission to marry Jackie. Permission was granted, and Jackie’s dad texted Kyle the next day the following: “NO RETURNS!” (Haha, funny Dad!) Flash forward to March 21, 2025, Kyle took Jackie and Pavo on a walk to Bryant Park in Traverse City. He handed her a piece of paper that he wrote several weeks before for her to read out loud. He then got on one knee and asked her to marry him (with a stye in his eye). And she said yes! The two then celebrated their engagement at the Boathouse, their favorite restaurant. —————————— Ever since we met, the two of us have been genuinely enjoying every second together. We sincerely cannot wait for this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with our closest family and friends. We could not think of a better venue than the Boathouse. We hope you all enjoy the space as much as we do. Xoxo Jackie & Kyle
