Olivia and Wesley matched on the dating app Bumble in January 2015. After matching, the two exchanged text messages for a couple of weeks, but eventually the conversation fizzled before they made the effort to meet in person. Fast forward four months to May 14, 2015. Olivia realized, by way of a social media post, she was relatively close in proximity to Wesley and decided to rekindle their messages from months prior. Wesley was thrilled to hear from Olivia and they planned to meet for an impromptu dinner date. The first date occurred at Red Pepper, a taco restaurant, and the rest is history. The two spent the evening discussing eBay, recent home purchases, and debating whose family was more frugal. Discovering they had more similarities than differences, the two decided on a second date within the week. Wesley and Olivia have been inseparable ever since.
While vacationing in New York City in February of 2019, Wesley asked Olivia an oddly serious question: “Olivia, will you accompany me on a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge?” Without missing a beat, Olivia’s curious response was, “What, are you going to propose or something?” Little did she know, that was the plan. On the brisk 23° afternoon of February 17th in the City, Wesley and Olivia began their chilly stroll across the bridge, walking from Brooklyn to Manhattan. By the time they arrived to the halfway point of the bridge, Olivia was freezing and begging Wesley not to linger. Instead, Wesley was pacing, lingering, and pointing out buildings to buy himself time to find the perfect spot. Wesley finally popped the question, and to this day, neither Olivia or Wesley recall exactly what he said, as he was incredibly nervous and she was overcome with excitement. The one thing they both remember, Olivia said yes!
