We recommend arriving by Wednesday, April 7, 2027 to enjoy the full weekend.
The closest airport is Geneva Airport (GVA) in Switzerland, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Chamonix by car or shuttle.
There are several easy transportation options from Geneva Airport to Chamonix, including shared shuttles, private transfers, and trains. We’ll share our recommended options closer to the wedding weekend.
We recommend booking accommodations as early as possible. Unlike many U.S. weddings, hotels in France generally do not offer traditional room blocks far in advance, so guests will book directly through each hotel or rental property. We suggest reserving accommodations no later than by the end of September 2026 if possible, as many hotels in the valley are relatively small.
We recommend confirming passport validity well in advance and booking flights/accommodations early, particularly if you plan to extend your trip elsewhere in Europe before or after the wedding weekend. We also recommend notifying your credit card company of international travel if needed, checking whether your phone plan includes international coverage, and reviewing any airline baggage policies in advance - especially for guests planning to travel with skis.
No - Chamonix is very walkable, and transportation will be arranged for major wedding events. There is a very simple and scenic train system throughout the valley connecting Chamonix and surrounding villages. We do not anticipate a rental car being necessary for most guests.
French is the primary language spoken in Chamonix, though English is widely spoken throughout hotels, restaurants, shops, and tourism-related businesses. Many hotel websites will initially appear in French. Most offer an English-language option that can be selected using the language menu or flag icon, typically located in the upper right corner of the website.
April in Chamonix is beautiful but still very much alpine spring weather. In the town and valley, it will feel more like spring, with crisp mountain air and daytime temperatures typically around 55-60°F. However, conditions at higher elevations can be much colder and more winter-like, with snow still very possible. Most wedding events will take place in the valley, but our welcome/après-ski event will be at altitude, so we strongly recommend bringing warm layers, a proper coat or jacket, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes suitable for mountain terrain. Even if the sun is out, temperatures can feel significantly cooler in the evenings and in the mountains - we’re looking at you, Floridians!
France uses the Euro (€). Most places accept major credit cards, though American Express is not always accepted, particularly at smaller restaurants, cafés, and shops. We recommend bringing a Visa or Mastercard and having a small amount of cash on hand as well.
Chamonix offers incredible skiing, scenic lifts, shopping, cafés, hiking, spas, and mountain views. We’ll share some of our favorite recommendations closer to the wedding weekend. We also highly encourage guests to make a larger Europe trip out of the weekend if they’re able - whether that means exploring other parts of France, visiting Italy or Switzerland nearby, or spending additional time elsewhere in Europe before or after the wedding. Chamonix is a great jumping-off point for a longer trip, and we’d love for everyone to enjoy the opportunity to travel while they’re already overseas.
No ski gear is needed for the wedding weekend itself, though guests planning to ski may want to arrange rentals in Chamonix. Please reach out to Olivia or Sean for help coordinating rentals.
Guests will make their own way to the Montenvers train departure point in Chamonix Centre. From there, all guests will travel together by train to the ceremony. Transportation will be provided between the ceremony and reception venues. At the conclusion of the evening, shuttle transportation will be available throughout the night to return guests to accommodations within the Chamonix valley.
Our wedding weekend will be adults-only unless otherwise specified on your invitation.
Attire information for each event can be found on the Schedule page of the website. In general, we’re envisioning an elevated alpine atmosphere throughout the weekend - chic, polished, and appropriate for the mountain setting.
We kindly ask guests to remain present during the ceremony and leave photography to our professional team.
Formal invitations will be mailed in Fall 2026. Please submit your RSVP no later than January 15, 2027. We kindly ask that guests respond as early as possible to assist with transportation, venue planning, and guest accommodations.
