Tré and and Olivia don’t remember for certain the exact moment they met, but they do know it was at their Home Camp of Shady Springs in southern Indiana. Through the years they would reconnect at camp, but she was quieter at the time, and their meetings were brief. Olivia missed camp the summer of 2020 but visited Tré’s church that November after being in a mutual friend’s wedding. That night Tré and Olivia talked longer than they ever had, catching up on life and college, and she can still recall the gray sweater he was wearing. Shady Springs, 2021, Olivia got to come up for camp, and Tré walked her to the car most nights, asking for her number June 24, 2021. It didn’t take long for them to decide that each other were worth the distance between Missouri and Indiana, and on July 29, 2021 Tré asked Olivia to be his girlfriend while taking her back to her friend Rachel’s house after Shady Adult Camp. Right after she said yes, they hit a skunk, and she laughed so hard that he knew she was a keeper. They’ve been laughing, sharing, and making memories ever since, going the distance, while also going to school. On Thursday, December 16, 2021, Tré, wearing the same gray sweater, he first caught her eye in, picked Olivia up from the airport after his last final of the semester, and took her to Little Nashville for the day. Little did she know what awaited her when they went to his parents house that evening and walked down their driveway lined with Christmas lights. As they neared the back porch deck, Tré lead her up the steps where she opened her eyes to a beautiful Christmas setting set up by his family with the words, “Will you marry me?” spelled with Christmas lights in the field. She turned around to see Tré on one knee, and “yes” was an easy response. They couldn’t feel more blessed to marry their best friend and love of their lives on June 10, 2022 before God, and in the presence of their loved ones.
