best friends turned to better halves

Junior year of college I moved onto the infamous street, Conn Terrace (RIP). As I would take my daily walk down the street towards campus, I would often pass "the neighbor" hanging out on the porch, playing guitar, swinging in his hammock, etc. We would always exchange a friendly wave, but nothing beyond that. Fast forward a few months and I was walking home from a party one late Thursday night (Friday morning?). Liquid courage allowed me to introduce myself. I walked up on the porch with my girlfriends - we joined his group of friends - sang and played guitar for hours. I had NO idea that night, I had just met my future husband. What I did know, was that we clicked instantly. He and I became the quickest of friends. I started joining him on the porch on my way to and from classes. He always made me feel incredibly comfortable and valued. As time went by, I found myself missing his presence whenever he wasn't around. And before we even realized it ourselves, we became a packaged deal. Long story short, I came to realize I could not live my life without him by my side. 2+ years of prior friendship allowed our dating experience to move very quickly- after all, we already knew each other so so well. We have continued to learn over the years just how well we complement one another. We have grown both individually, but more importantly, we have grown together as a couple. We have built a wonderful foundation for a beautiful life ahead- with an ideal starter home, two precious puppies, and the beginnings of two great careers. Life will undoubtedly pose its challenges... but I feel confident we can tackle them together. I'm thankful for the foundation we have set ... here's to forever!
