We met at a restaurant in midtown, Kansas City called Canary. Olivia was out on the town for a girls night around Christmas time and Stephen was playing jazz trio at the same restaurant. The table of girls immediately noticed the musicians across the room and started talking to their waitress about “the bands” story. Olivia shared with her friend sitting next to her, she thought the saxophone player was cute. Her friend, then started waving at Stephen, the saxophone player, while he was playing to direct his attention to Olivia mid-song. At the next break in the music set, he mustered the courage to approach the table of 5 beautiful women. Olivia and Stephen immediately connected upon mutual interests, music, and their love for their family. They exchanged numbers and Stephen asked Olivia out on a date the next day. The rest is history.
We planned a trip to Seattle to visit Stephens friend and best man, Justin. The beginning of our trip was to drive north of the area to a German Christmas town called Leavenworth, WA. If you could imagine the most perfect picture of Christmas, this surpasses most imaginations. Christmas lights everywhere, a store entirely of Nutcrackers, snow dusted alpine inspired bread and breakfasts, snowy sleigh rides, and don’t forget German beer and hot mulled wine! Stephen proposed in the most beautiful walking street, with a perfect layer of snow had just fallen, trees lit up with hundreds of lights, and even had his friends take some photos during the surprise! It was such a memorable trip to remember in the Decembers to come.
