We met the way many great love stories do — at work. On our very first day of orientation, we were just two new hires sitting in the same room, not knowing that we were actually meeting our forever person. Somewhere between introductions and training sessions, something clicked. What started as coworkers quickly turned into friendship… and then into something neither of us could ignore. Our first date? Casual, low-key… just Valentine’s Day at Billy Joel in Madison Square Garden. No big deal. That night set the tone for us — music, energy, laughter, and a shared love for experiences. We quickly realized we had a lot of common interests: live music, sporting events, Renaissance fairs, nature walks, video games, frisbee — and yes, an unwavering devotion to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Over time, our mutual love for adventure has become one of our favorite shared qualities. We once won tickets to Adventureland and spent the entire day feeling like kids again — rushing from ride to ride without a worry. We also escaped for a peaceful weekend in a secluded upstate cabin, where it seemed like we owned the woods. Additionally, we took a trip to Scranton, Pennsylvania, to indulge in our affection for The Office. On the drive back, we unexpectedly found the most beautiful lavender farm. Mike still keeps a bar of lavender soap from that day, which he refuses to use — we simply enjoy smelling it and reminiscing about how perfect everything felt. We complement each other in the best way; Mike has a louder, more energetic presence, while Liv is initially shy but becomes more open as you get to know her. We’re both endlessly goofy, and happiest when we’re laughing together — whether we’re debating Harry Potter houses, quoting Lord of the Rings, rewatching Star Wars, or getting way too competitive over a board game. We got engaged in the Bahamas — and somehow, we both just knew it was going to happen on that trip. Though it was never officially said out loud, we both could feel it. (Liv even treated herself to especially pretty nails just in case.) One morning, we were walking along the beach on our way to go snorkeling. Liv had her back turned toward Mike, setting down her gear. When she turned around to look out at the ocean, he was down on one knee in the sand and holding an open ring box. Liv was so excited that she immediately grabbed the ring out of the box and put it on her own finger before he even had the chance. The rest of that vacation felt like a dream — like we were floating somewhere between ocean waves and the beginning of our forever. Being born and raised on Long Island, we’ve always been surrounded by water… literally! Our connection to the ocean has been integral to our history, from learning to surf to beach cleanups. Given Liv’s passion for marine biology, selecting a water-related venue seemed like a perfect fit. When Mike suggested the Long Island Aquarium as a potential location, she quickly agreed. It felt like us: Personal; Meaningful; A little unique; And perfectly full circle. Somewhere along the way, in between concerts and quiet nights in, we built something steady and real. A relationship rooted in friendship, humor, and choosing each other every day. And now, we get to begin this next chapter surrounded by the people we love most. We truly can’t wait to celebrate with you.
