In October 2021, we met on Bumble and went to dinner at PBR in Richmond, Virginia—what started as a simple first date quickly turned into something special. We bonded over our shared passion for working with children with disabilities, Kolby as a vision teacher and Olivia as an occupational therapist. As our relationship grew, so did our careers. Today, we both work in schools, supporting students and finding purpose in the work we love. It’s rare to find someone who truly understands that part of your life, and we found that in each other. We’re different in a lot of ways, but that’s what makes us work. Kolby is a big football fan (Go Birds!) and has slowly turned Olivia into one too, while Olivia’s love for cats has made Kolby a proud cat dad. Our little cat family has been such a meaningful part of our journey. Early in our relationship, we cared for our first stray cat, Jasmine. Loving her and eventually grieving her loss was heartbreaking, but it brought us closer and taught us so much about showing up for each other during the hardest moments. We later adopted our cat, Stella, and most recently welcomed our energetic kitten, Tully, who keeps us laughing with his endless zoomies. We love traveling to places like Nashville, Asheville, and Puerto Rico, but we also cherish the simple moments at home, such as cooking together (especially pasta), relaxing on the couch, and enjoying each other’s company. Kolby proposed on July 22, 2025, during Olivia’s family vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. It was the easiest “yes” ever. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
