There will be a wedding ceremony and Mass. This will include an opening prayer, Liturgy of the Word, the wedding ceremony, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and a closing prayer. Scroll down for further details on the Mass.
The reception is at the Saint Bernard Abbey Byre, which is behind the Church. It is a bit of a walk to get there, and you are welcome to drive; however, parking is limited.
If you have a plus one, it will be indicated when you RSVP on the website. Unfortunately, we have limited space, so if this is not indicated we are unable to accommodate a plus one.
This will be a child free wedding. However, we can make arrangements to have childcare onsite if necessary. Please reach out to me if you require childcare.
This is the first portion of the Mass. It will include two Scripture readings and a psalm. Following this, we will stand and listen to a reading of the Gospel. We will then sit and listen as the priest gives a homily (a sermon) about the readings.
This is the second portion of the Mass. It includes the presentation of the gifts (bread and wine), the Eucharistic prayer, and our reception of Holy Communion.
The Holy Eucharist or Holy Communion is the most important Sacrament of the Catholic Church. We believe that the Eucharist is the real presence of God, the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.
Only practicing Catholics in a state of grace are permitted to receive the Eucharist. However, non-Catholics (Christian or not) are welcome to come forward and receive a blessing. You may also remain seated or kneeling, if you do not feel comfortable coming forward.
As Communion begins, each row will stand and process to the center aisle. Follow your row out of the pew. Once you reach the priest or deacon, cross your arms over your chest in an "X," and they will give you a blessing. You are not required to say anything in return, but many say "Amen." After that, you will turn and follow the person in front of you back to your seat.
Yes! You can participate in the readings and prayers. There will be lots of movements (sitting, standing, kneeling.) Just follow along with those around you. We also do not expect you to believe the same teachings as us, nor should you feel obligated to participate in any of the prayers, readings or songs, if you are not comfortable doing so.
