If you're traveling to the wedding from JFK Airport, you can reach Southold, NY by train with a combination of the AirTrain and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). First, take the AirTrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station. The AirTrain runs 24/7 and takes about 15 minutes; you can pay the $8.50 fare using a MetroCard or OMNY. At Jamaica Station, transfer to the LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch toward Ronkonkoma. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes, and the trip takes about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the time of day. Once at Ronkonkoma, you'll transfer to the LIRR Greenport Branch, which stops in Southold. Please note that only three eastbound trains run daily from Ronkonkoma to Southold, departing at 7:25 AM, 11:56 AM, and 7:03 PM. The ride from Ronkonkoma to Southold takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Altogether, the trip from JFK to Southold takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on connection times. If you're traveling to the wedding from New York City, the Hampton Jitney offers a convenient and comfortable way to reach Southold. The Jitney’s North Fork route runs daily year-round, with multiple pick-up locations in Manhattan including 96th Street, 83rd Street, 59th Street, 41st Street, and an airport connection stop that services JFK, LaGuardia, and MacArthur airports. The ride to Southold takes approximately 3 hours, depending on traffic, and includes comfortable seating and onboard refreshments. There are several departure times throughout the day, with Southold arrivals ranging from mid-morning to late evening. For example, a typical morning departure around 7:25 AM will get you into Southold by approximately 10:25 AM. Additional buses run every 2–3 hours throughout the day. We recommend booking your ticket in advance on the Hampton Jitney website, as seats can fill up quickly, especially on weekends.
