Her Story: In May of 2020, I went down to Waco to take senior pictures with my girlfriends, Abby and Gabi. Little did I know, that trip would change my life forever. While we were on campus taking photos, Jacob and his buddy, Grant, were at Shorty’s — a beloved Waco staple where Baylor students gather to enjoy pizza pillows and pitchers of beer. When we were wrapping up our senior pictures, Abby got a text from Grant, her now husband, asking if we could pick him and this guy named Jacob up from Shorty’s. The moment Jacob got in the car, I immediately got butterflies . The entire ride home I was so nervous, I couldn’t even talk (which is a VERY big deal for me). Once we dropped the guys off and Jacob got out of the car, I finally got a good look at him, and it was love at first sight (for real)! As soon as we backed out of the driveway, I couldn’t help but ask my friends about Jacob, hoping he was single. Luckily, he was! My friends were so excited and we quickly came up with a plan to invite the guys over that night so Jacob and I could officially meet…and we haven’t looked back since. Five years later, Jacob and I have built a beautiful life together with our two fur babies, Harlowe and Theo! His Story: I was at Shorty’s right after my junior year of college had ended with one of my best friends, Grant, looking to celebrate finishing another semester. Like responsible adults, we asked Abby, Grants now wife, to come give us a ride home. This part of the story probably differs from Olivia’s, as I got in the car and thought nothing of the 5 minute drive home and thanked Abby for the ride. I was very surprised that an hour or so after being home, Grant asked if I wanted to go back to Abby’s house later that night for a small get-together. Apparently, one of Abby’s friends who had been in the car thought I was quite cute (no surprise) and wanted to meet me. Of course I said yes, never thinking I would be meeting my future wife. To be perfectly honest, I did not notice the girl that was sitting on the other side of Grant in the backseat of the car. At the party, I had a great time getting to know the funny and charismatic girl who has great taste in men. Being the unassuming and moreso naive person that I am, when Grant asked if I was ready to go later that night, I left without saying goodbye (I know what an idiot, right?). Olivia, however, and this is where she gets all the credit in the world because we are now where we are today, decided to ask Abby and Grant if she could come over to hang out a bit longer at Grant and my house. From there, I asked for her number, and the rest is how we got here today!
