It's official–we're getting married! And we are so happy you're here; we've got big plans for our big day and we'd love for you to be a part of them. Given our well-known love for travel, it should come as no surprise that we've decided to take these nuptials on the road. We're leaving snowy Salt Lake and heading south to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica for a weekend full of sun, fun, and love. We know this is a lot to ask of our friends and family, but we hope you'll be able to join us in the celebrations!
Hers: Our story isn't one of love at first sight, in fact Hayden and I were friendly acquaintances for over a year before we started dating. When we first met, I thought he was a nice guy who was good with an aux cord and a reliable source of Jose Cuervo—someone who was fun to party with. We attended the same social events and were always friendly, but never ventured beyond casual pleasantries. Fast forward to Spring of 2016, when the two of us were attending a party at the Pike House. I had just gotten back from a semester abroad and Hayden was one of the few familiar faces I recognized at the party. We started talking and eventually found ourselves on a mission to locate my dad's old composite photos (see gallery for photo evidence of Mike in all his 1980s glory), which had recently been moved. Looking back, I'm positive that Hayden couldn't have cared less about the photos, but it was the invitation we needed to start a real conversion (thanks, Dad!). The next morning, he asked me on a date and I can honestly say the rest is history. It didn't take me long to fall in love with Hayden, and I've been loving him ever since. His: Prior to dating, Olivia and I spent a few years in our college days as acquaintances. We knew who each other were, but mostly ran with different crowds. As there is with any great romance story, there was one night where all of that changed. I was hanging out with a few friends amid finishing up the last of my senior year finals. We were debating what we were going to do that night, and I was convinced to go to a party at the Pike fraternity house where we were active members (generally not a hard sell). There were dozens of people there that evening, but shortly after arriving, Olivia caught my eye at the top of the stairs. Although we had a handful of encounters before that, something immediately seemed different to me. I went up and spoke to her with a high quality 18-pack of Natural Light beer in hand; $9.99 at your local 7-11. We discussed her trip abroad that she just got back from and how she hardly knew anyone there. This probably worked out to my advantage, and we ended up talking for hours while half-heartedly attempting to find her dad’s composite picture hanging somewhere in the house. We never found the picture, but the night was a success for me as I got her phone number before she left. By the time she had left, the night was late and the people I came with were long gone. With the number saved in my phone, I walked home alone feeling like it was an evening well spent. The morning after, I texted Olivia and asked her out on what ended up being our first date. Little did we know that would be the first of many more and from there we’ve never looked back...
