FAQs

The Wedding Website of Olivia Chappelear and Daniel Pate
Question

When should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

James Monroe's Highland is open to the public daily from 9:30am-4:30pm. To keep things easy for the staff and magical for you, please arrive after 4:30pm!

Question

Is the entire event outside?

Answer

Technically, yes, but the reception will be held under an open-air pavilion. If the weather is stormy, we have made arrangements to move fully indoors.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Cocktail attire! Google should be able to help, but keep an eye on the weather as late April can have varying temperatures, especially in the mountains.

Question

What's significant about James Monroe's Highland?

Answer

From 1799 to 1826 Highland was the sporadic residence of fifth president James Monroe. (more info here: https://highland.org/discover-highland/) Please note: After the ceremony, you'll have an opportunity to check out the historic site, courtesy of James Monroe's Highland staff.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we'd love to celebrate with everyone, we'd like to keep the kid count to just the wedding party for this event!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony/reception?

Answer

Yes! There is ample free parking at James Monroe's Highland. You may leave your vehicle overnight as long as you pick it up by 9am Sunday morning. Additionally, Charlottesville is a very Uber/Lyft friendly town!
