DJ and I met working at Panera Bread June 2017. When I first started working there we would always be on the closing shift together and after we finished closing, everyone would go to hangout and get some food which allowed us to get to know each other better. I remember us all going to Fat Cats as a work team, and DJ paid for me to bowl and play games. I went home that night telling my mom how sweet he was, but not yet admitting that I thought he was pretty cute too! After that we began to hangout more just us two, at that point I could not deny the fact that I knew there was something very special about him. I remember rambling to my best friend Grace (my MOH) about his sweet & funny personality, and what a cutie he is. DJ ended up asking me out on Sept 3, 2017 and ever since we have been so in love with each other. Over these past couple years, DJ & I have learned so much about each other and I am so grateful to have this lifetime to learn and grow more with him.
This day presented many obstacles and challenges. Even though I had purchased her engagement ring just over a year ago, the perfect day to propose fell right in the middle of the Coronavirus lockdown. Going out to a restaurant was out of the question, but this wasn't much of a problem because I knew she would want a more private and intimate setting. That morning I offered to get Olivia Starbucks, which was inside of a Bashas grocery store up the road from the house. While I was there I grabbed some flowers to put in the vase we painted together for our 1 year anniversary. I also grabbed some food and yummy drinks for her! The next obstacle to overcome was that I figured she would want her nails done whenever I proposed so that she would love taking pictures with her ring! An impromptu trip to the nail salon would raise too many questions, so I requested the help of her best friend since the age of 18 months. On short notice, Gracie girl brought her twin babies over for a spontaneous hang out and spa day where she painted Olivia's finger and toe nails. While that was taking place I went to the stage in the backyard and started to set the scene where it would would happen! I brought out a table and put a picnic table cloth on it. I also set up the food and drinks when it got closer to sundown. The final touch to the set up was laying the tealights for a walkway. The final challenge was to figure out how on earth to get someone dressed to go absolutely nowhere! Grace had the genius idea to make a tiktok that required you to get dressed up for it. After we filmed the videos I led her down the path made just for her and got down on one knee and asked her to marry me and be my lifelong partner. After she finished crying and nodding, she finally said yes!
