Chad and Olivia met at a mutual friend's 30th birthday party. This friend was a new classmate of Olivia's at Denver Seminary and a coworker of Chad's. Olivia had only been in Denver about a month, so she can hardly remember a life in Denver without her groom. Chad, however, had been in Denver almost 2 years, and says that Denver is much sweeter with his bride. Although they caught each other's interest that night, they didn't leave with each other's numbers, only some red wine Olivia spilled on Chad's shoe... Their mutual friend Rachel had to play match maker to get Chad and Olivia in the same place several more times, until they went on their first date in November, and started dating in December. Five weeks into dating, Chad told Olivia he loved her for the first time (which Olivia reciprocated) while snowshoeing...
One year later Chad and Olivia were snowshoeing at Guanella Pass again, the same spot where Chad first told Olivia he loved her. Chad asked, "would it be too sentimental if we took the same trail (as last time we were here)?" Olivia, who was trying not to read a proposal into any situation at the time and who appreciates a little sentimentality, gladly agreed. After they had been snow-shoeing for a while, Olivia teasingly asked Chad, "Aren't you gonna tell me you love me? Recreate the moment?!" Chad paused before saying, "well actually I am..." He pulled a note out of his pocket and said "I know you love notes, so here is a very special note..." Olivia opened it up and inside the note read, "I will love you forever." As Olivia looked at the note, Chad got down on one knee, pulled out a ring box and asked the most important question he had ever asked... "Olivia, will you marry me?" .... Of course Olivia said "YES!" After she got over the initial shock, Chad told Olivia that "someone" was in the parking lot to take pictures, (which was something Olivia had previously requested). When they exited the trailhead, Olivia spotted her friend Chelsea's car, then froze when she saw the back doors open and HER PARENTS get out of the car! Olivia burst into tears, gave Chad a big hug, then ran to embrace her parents. Chad had apparently picked up Olivia's parents from the airport early that morning and dropped them off at Chelsea's house to complete the surprise... It was truly an unforgettable day.
Olivia grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as the oldest of three daughters. After graduating high school, she went to college at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Olivia continued to live in Birmingham for two more years after graduating college, exploring different career fields, before moving to Denver, CO in August 2016 to begin her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Denver Seminary.
Chad grew up in Watertown, Wisconsin (between Milwaukee and Madison), as the youngest of four children (two older sisters and an older brother). He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse. Chad accepted a job opportunity in Denver, CO, and moved shortly after in January 2015. In his three years in Colorado, Chad has grown to love snowboarding, trail running, and playing volleyball with friends in the park.
