Olivia and Caleb met at a fall retreat at Ridgecrest on September 29, 2017. Olivia was going on this trip with the UNC Charlotte's CRU organization and didn't know anyone who was going. It was very out of the ordinary for her to go out of her comfort zone to a place she was unfamiliar with and with people she had never met before but she felt like God was pushing her to go. Everyone was put into devotional groups and Olivia happened to be placed into the group that Caleb was the leader of. After they were put into groups, everyone went to a bonfire to mingle and get to know one another. There was a group messaging app that everyone in CRU was a part of; a friend of Caleb's had posted in the group messaging app that he and Caleb were planning on going on a sunrise hike the next morning. (Caleb later revealed to Olivia that he had never said anything about going on the hike but acted like he did because she wanted to go) Olivia was interested in going and when she got to the bonfire she could only see Caleb and his friends so she forced herself to go talk to him about the hike. She asked him about going on the hike and he encouraged her to go. They eventually started to tell each other about themselves and Olivia started telling Caleb about the reason she transferred schools (her vaccine injury) and the fact that she was so open with him is why he became interested in her…She on the other hand had no idea he liked her. Olivia did not go on the hike the next morning because she did not think her health was good enough to wake up that early in order to hike up the side of a mountain. That Saturday each devotional group went to eat lunch together; Olivia and Caleb had talked a little and she invited herself to go with Caleb and his friends to Ashville during the 7 hour block of free time that everyone had before they had to be back at Ridgecrest. They spent the rest of the weekend together and the day they returned, he asked her on their first date.

Caleb and Olivia had planned a trip to take her family to the Biltmore house to see the Titanic exhibit. It was a perfect set up for Caleb because it was Olivia's idea... The plan was to have their families meet while they were at the Biltmore but they weren't sure if it would happen then or they would meet at dinner. They were on their way to the estate and Caleb told her he was getting nervous because they were late to meet her parents there. (Later she found out that it was because he was proposing!!!!) Caleb, Olivia, her parents and her siblings went through the entire house to see the exhibit. He made a joke about proposing in the spot that his brother had proposed to his wife. Once they had reached the last few rooms of the house, Caleb went out to meet up with his parents. After his family had met hers, Olivia went to the bathroom and while she was in there... Caleb and his mom hid the ring in her book bag. Then it was time to head to the gardens at Biltmore. Olivia had never seen the gardens before and was so excited to so she asked Caleb if she could close her eyes while he guided her to the gardens so she could be blown away by the beauty of the landscape. Again... she set it up perfectly for him without her even knowing. They had got to the tulips and he told her to open her eyes, she was in awe and then he insisted on reaching into her bag to get some water. He handed her the water bottle so he could "zip up the bag" and the said to her, "Olivia, you know I love you right?" She replied by saying, "yeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhh..." She now knew it was coming and her stomach dropped. She turned around to see him down on one knee. He said to her, "Olivia I love you so much and I couldn't live life without you, will you marry me?" she shook her head yes and hugged him. The rest of the day was spent taking pictures and eating pizza with their families.
