Olivia and Alex met on June 4th, 2021 at Olivia's birthday/"welcome home from gradschool" party. A few friends were invited and she wanted her friends to bring their friends for a fun get together. Alex walked in and crossed paths with Olivia in the kitchen where he asked who the party was for. She explained that her birthday was actually May 2nd but that she wasn't able to come home to Wisconsin until now. With amusement he said "that's my birthday too!". Olivia had told him if this was an attempt to flirt with her he was going to need something more clever than that. He pulled out his ID and showed her that he did in fact have the exact same birthday - same day, same year. Blushing and excited, Olivia told him it was only fair if it was his birthday party now too. That night they shared their first drink, their first dance, and first never ending conversation getting to know each other on the balcony until sunrise. She let him know she would be leaving to go back to grad school in Ohio in a month and said it was up to him if he wanted to take on long distance with her. He texted her hours later. Called her the day after. And showed up one weekend later with her favorite beer and a clear schedule to take her on their first date. From that moment on, their story has been one of showing up. Showing up for each other in both the blissful, sweet moments, and also those of hardship and uncertainty. Years later, they are beyond ready for this next chapter of their story and the rest of their life together as husband and wife (and forever birthday twins)! Our family, our friends.
